Alguns desses impactos est\u00e3o a acontecer lentamente <\/span>e \u201cnos bastidores\u201d como tend\u00eancias a longo prazo ao n\u00edvel da temperatura e precipita\u00e7\u00e3o ou de outras vari\u00e1veis clim\u00e1ticas. Tamb\u00e9m os presenciamos nas altera\u00e7\u00f5es nos ecossistemas, quando as plantas e os animais mudam de habitat ou acabam mesmo por desaparecer. <\/span><\/p>\n

Outros impactos assumem a forma de fen\u00f3menos meteorol\u00f3gicos extremos, que os cientistas conseguem associar ou atribuir \u00e0s altera\u00e7\u00f5es clim\u00e1ticas.<\/span>. Os fen\u00f3menos extremos, como vagas de frio, chuvas torrenciais ou vagas de calor, que s\u00e3o pouco prov\u00e1veis, mas podem ter consequ\u00eancias profundas, sempre fizeram parte da variabilidade clim\u00e1tica natural. Atrav\u00e9s da nossa influ\u00eancia sobre o sistema clim\u00e1tico, por\u00e9m, os seres humanos est\u00e3o a \u201cp\u00f4r o dedo na balan\u00e7a\u201d, com estes fen\u00f3menos a tornarem-se mais prov\u00e1veis e as suas consequ\u00eancias cada vez mais graves. Os relat\u00f3rios do IPCC referem-se a esta manifesta\u00e7\u00e3o como \u201cpara al\u00e9m da variabilidade clim\u00e1tica natural\u201d.<\/span><\/p>\n

Gra\u00e7as \u00e0 criatividade e resili\u00eancia humanas, muitas comunidades encontraram formas de se adaptarem aos impactos clim\u00e1ticos agudos e a mais longo prazo, minimizando a devasta\u00e7\u00e3o que causam. Ainda assim, a adapta\u00e7\u00e3o a alguns impactos \u00e9 simplesmente imposs\u00edvel e as perdas que os mesmos causam s\u00e3o, muitas vezes, irrevers\u00edveis. Enquanto estivermos a adiar a tomada de medidas significativas para reduzir as emiss\u00f5es de gases com efeito de estufa, estamos tamb\u00e9m a perder a nossa capacidade de adapta\u00e7\u00e3o. Esta situa\u00e7\u00e3o deve-se, em parte, ao facto de o tempo estar a esgotar-se para algumas das solu\u00e7\u00f5es que poderiam ter funcionado anteriormente em n\u00edveis de aquecimento mais baixos. Tamb\u00e9m se deve aos custos cada vez mais elevados, assim como a uma capacidade de adapta\u00e7\u00e3o cada vez menor, em que os seres vivos e as comunidades, que s\u00e3o fustigados por impactos diversos ou excessivamente frequentes, perdem a capacidade de recuperar.<\/span><\/p>\n

Em primeiro lugar, a \u00cdndia e o Paquist\u00e3o, assim como extens\u00f5es consider\u00e1veis do Sul da \u00c1sia, viveram uma vaga de calor que foi 30 vezes mais prov\u00e1vel de acontecer devido \u00e0s altera\u00e7\u00f5es clim\u00e1ticas, de acordo com as <\/span>estimativas do WWA.<\/span><\/a>. Os cientistas salientam que, embora as vagas de calor n\u00e3o sejam invulgares antes das mon\u00e7\u00f5es, a combina\u00e7\u00e3o de calor extremo e chuva em quantidade muito inferior \u00e0 m\u00e9dia deu origem a consequ\u00eancias desastrosas para a sa\u00fade p\u00fablica e a agricultura. Estes impactos foram agravados por outros riscos n\u00e3o clim\u00e1ticos, como escassez de carv\u00e3o, o que levou a cortes de abastecimento de energia na \u00cdndia. Tamb\u00e9m tiveram implica\u00e7\u00f5es de grande alcance para o resto do mundo, uma vez que a diminui\u00e7\u00e3o do rendimento na cultura do trigo impediu que a regi\u00e3o complementasse o abastecimento global afetado pela guerra na Ucr\u00e2nia.<\/span><\/p>\n

Mais tarde em 2022, as vagas de calor do ver\u00e3o na Europa provocaram grandes transtornos na vida das pessoas e na atividade econ\u00f3mica. Em Fran\u00e7a, o calor excecional <\/span>interferiu<\/span><\/a> com a produ\u00e7\u00e3o de eletricidade das centrais nucleares, enquanto o Reino Unido registou a sua primeira temperatura acima de 40 <\/span>\u00b0C<\/span>. Uma <\/span>an\u00e1lise<\/span><\/a> do WWA concluiu que, sem as altera\u00e7\u00f5es clim\u00e1ticas causadas pela atividade humana, essa situa\u00e7\u00e3o seria extremamente improv\u00e1vel.<\/span><\/p>\n

O calor extremo pode ser igualmente perigoso tanto para os oceanos como para os solos. Aos per\u00edodos prolongados com temperaturas anormalmente elevadas nas \u00e1guas superficiais d\u00e1-se o nome de vagas de calor marinhas e a sua frequ\u00eancia e intensidade aumentaram em mais de vinte vezes devido \u00e0s altera\u00e7\u00f5es clim\u00e1ticas, de acordo com um <\/span>estudo de 2020.<\/span><\/a>. Estas tempestades trouxeram mortes e ferimentos, assim como danos extensos nas infraestruturas, e as suas consequ\u00eancias a longo prazo para o bem-estar das comunidades locais altamente vulner\u00e1veis ainda n\u00e3o s\u00e3o totalmente conhecidas. A equipa do WWA conseguiu <\/span>demonstrar<\/span><\/a> que as altera\u00e7\u00f5es clim\u00e1ticas aumentaram a probabilidade e intensidade das chuvas associadas a duas das tempestades, a Tempestade Tropical Ana e o Ciclone Tropical Batsirai.<\/span><\/p>\n

Em 2021, dois dias de fortes chuvadas, agravadas pelas condi\u00e7\u00f5es de pluviosidade anteriores e por outros fatores locais, causaram graves inunda\u00e7\u00f5es na Alemanha e em partes da Europa Ocidental. Mais de duzentas pessoas perderam a vida e outras centenas, se n\u00e3o mesmo milhares, depararam-se com danos nas suas casas e infraestruturas de transporte ou n\u00e3o tiveram temporariamente acesso a servi\u00e7os de evacua\u00e7\u00e3o e resposta de emerg\u00eancia.
